Lowbau: A darker shade of blues

02/07/13  ||  Cobal

Lowbau’s could be described as a very American form of metal, except they are Austrian. Indeed, blend together a bit of Dimebag’s riffs and unmistakable groove, some Anselmo’s vocal vibe and nurture that with some true Mississippi blues —I mean there’s even harmonica playing thrown in middle of all that’s happening— and you’ll get a darker milkshake of sludge… Or something. Me, I feel it! Regardless how yummy that sounds to you, I’ll tell you this: Production’s neat, performance’s sweet and songwriting above the average. And yet, at some point I did feel they could have spared the listener a couple songs that didn’t actually bring anything new to the table and made the album a bit too long.

8/10: Sure it has many more pros than cons.
